Microneedling FAQs
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling utilizes our body's natural healing process to treat both the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin. The micro injuries created stimulate the production of collagen improve the texture of the skin.
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Microneedling is a comfortable procedure when effective numbing agents are used. After the procedure your skin may feel slightly sunburnt for a day or so.
How Long Will My Skin Take to Heal?
Should there be any redness remaining the day after treatment, you may apply a mineral makeup. Full healing takes 4-6 weeks depending on your age and skin type. You should protect your skin with a daily SPF of at least 30 for 6 weeks following any microneedling treatment.
How Many Microneedling Treatments Do I Need?
This depends on your goals and the response of your skin. In some instances just one treatment is effective, but generally a series of 3-8 treatments are required for optimal improvement. Treatments are spaced 4-8 weeks apart.
How Long Do The Results Last?
Microneedling will stimulate collagen and elastin production to strengthen and thicken your own cellular matrix, so results are long-lasting, although your skin will continue to age.
Can I Combine Microneedling and Laser Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?
YES! Combining overall skin rejuvenation with Laser Genesis while targeting problem areas more intensely with microneedling is a great, customized approach.
Are There Contraindications?
Yes. We will not do Microneedling if you...
* are under the age of 18
* are pregnant or breastfeeding
*take prescription blood thinners daily
*have uncontrolled or insulin-dependant diabetes
* have any raised moles, warts or lesions in the area to be treated
* are on acne medication or have been in the last 6 months
* have keloid or hypertrophic scarring
* have Vitiligo
* are prone to hyperpigmentation
How Should I Prepare For My Appointment?
* No exfoliating skin care products on the area the week before your treatment, including Retinol
* If you have ever had a cold sore and we are treating near your lips you should have a prescription antiviral, on hand.
Do You Ever Refuse To Do a Treatment?
YES. We reserve the right to refuse treatment on anyone. For any reason.
